LONDON (AP) — An alternative healer who advocates a technique known as “slapping therapy” was charged Thursday over the death of a woman at one of his workshops in England seven years ago. Hongchi Xiao was charged with manslaughter by gross negligence in the October 2016 death of Danielle Carr-Gomm, Wiltshire Police said. Xiao promotes paida lajin therapy, in which patients are slapped or slap themselves repeatedly, ostensibly to release toxins from the body. A millennial who moved to California from Tennessee said California is much more working-class friendly. He said he gets more protections and benefits as a nurse in California, as well as a higher salary. While housing prices are higher in California, he said many of his costs are cheaper than in Tennessee. California requires one nurse for every two intensive or critical care patients for instance, while Tennessee does not have state laws for these ratios. "I genuinely didn't know what a break was when I moved to California."

For an example of how climate change is increasingly becoming a flashpoint in the culture wars, Germany is a good place to start. Meanwhile, Spain’s far-right Vox party vowed to defend the country against “the new climate religion.”But to understand why climate change and the culture wars have become so enmeshed globally, experts say the United States probably holds the key. It’s effective, it does scare people.”The origins of the climate culture war in the US lie in the early 1990s, when a new push for global climate action collided with big geopolitical change, McCright said. Lightning rod for right wing mediaConservative media has played an outsized role in fueling culture war narratives, according to experts. Fox has “been laying the groundwork necessary for positioning climate policies as a culture war issue for a long time,” she said.

Superyacht Holdings is taking a (relatively) democratized approach to superyacht ownership with its first target acquisition, the €110 million — about $117 million — Victorious. And because the ship is currently in operation, Superyacht Holdings won't have to do any refitting work. The Locastro brothers says several former employees from The World now work for Superyacht Holdings. Superyacht Holdings hasn't acquired its vessel yet, but this isn't uncommon for ship startupsBuyers can purchase more than one unit.

Mr. Hill was the “consummate waterfront junk shop-souvenir store, occasionally aspiring to an antique shop,” Mr. Neill said. Mr. Hill opened Captain Hook’s with the Revolution’s Bicentennial in 1976 and remained until the turn of the century, setting up shop “when there was nothing there,” his wife, Trudy Hill, recalled. His other son, Jason, said: “How crazy was it that somebody who flipped items was able to make it to Sands Point? A person who went to garage sales?”At one point Mr. Hill charged 25 cents merely for the privilege of viewing his vast collection of nautical trinkets. But most customers would leave only a little poorer, having been talked into, say, a rubber snake by the persistent Mr. Hill, part huckster and part sincere enthusiast — a “good merchandizer,” Mr. Neill said.

He told Insider he wasn't surprised to see court challenges and worried for people who got refunds. Since Biden announced his plan at the end of August to forgive up to $20,000 in student debt for federal borrowers, the plan has been fraught with legal challenges. I think many of the court challenges have tried to shine light on that," Matthew said. "My generation, the millennial, Gen Z generation, are facing a significant problem with student-loan debt," he said. "This radical scheme must be eviscerated entirely, and Republicans will continue to support legal challenges to achieve that end."
